Why hasn’t anybody thought of this before? If you’re a Java developer, I’m sure you’ve often run into class not found exceptions and had a hard time chasing down the missing JAR file. Jarhoo provides a simple search page that can identify the JAR file or package that corresponds to a particular class. Its growing database currently comprises 246344 classes, 2305 JAR files, and 25 applications. (via TheServerSide.com) It’s simple tools like Jarhoo and JDocs that can make a Java developer’s life much easier....

Subversion: Initial Impression

In the last few days, I have played a little with Subversion. I admit that I’m somewhat of a sucker for configuration management / version control systems. Up to now, I’ve had the opportunity to work with CVS, VSS, StarTeam, and Perforce (I’m not even counting RCS). Out of these tools, the only one I really dislike is VSS, as it its file-based (rather than true client-server) approach severly limits its scalability....

Got a new job!

After a good 5 weeks of interviewing, I finally accepted a job offer. Towards the end, there were three jobs I was very interested in, and for some reason all three job offers came in yesterday. It’s funny how these things work out sometimes… I don’t usually write anything specific about my company on my blog, and I’ll keep it that way for now. I will however say that my new job is at an early phase startup in the mobile entertainment industry....

JustBlogIt Firefox Extension

JustBlogIt is a nice little Firefox extension (also works with Mozilla) that adds a right-click menu entry to easily add a blog entry for the current page. The unique thing about it is that it also supports many web based news aggregators, such as Bloglines. You simply have to right-click on the entry you wish to blog about, and JustBlogIt will automatically insert the correct title and link in the blog form....

Google Desktop

Another very interesting new (beta) Google service: Google Desktop. This allows users to search through files as well as emails on their desktops, and sounds pretty promising.
