Rails 1.0 Released!

Ruby on Rails 1.0 was released today. David Heinemeier Hansson sums it up well in his blog. At this opportunity, a completely revamped Ruby on Rails website was launched as well. RubyForge now supports Subversion

RubyForge now supports Subversion as an alternative to CVS. If you are looking for a host for an open source project, RubyForge is a great choice (and almost the de-facto standard for Ruby projects), and Subversion support makes this even better. Nice!

Gmail Package Tracking

Once more, Gmail released a bunch of new features. I am particularly excited about the new Gmail Shortcuts. These show up on the right hand side of the page, right above the sponsored links, when Gmail was able to parse a mailing address or a tracking number from the email. I order a lot of items at Amazon and other online stores, and while the shipping confirmations generally contain tracking numbers (at least for UPS and FedEx), they usually don’t link directly to the respective package tracking pages....

Typo Theme Contest

The Typo Theme Contest ended on 11/28, and the final results were posted two days ago. I didn’t win anything, but my humble contribution “opyT” admittedly pales in light of the many awesome themes that were submitted by others. Most importantly, over 120 Typo themes resulted from this competition! The themes are very diverse, and everybody who is interested in hosting a Typo blog should be able to find at least a couple themes to their liking....
